I Give Up on Vista RC1

Two weekends, 12+ hours, and 4 DVD+R’s later, I still can’t install Vista RC1 and quite frankly, I give up. I can’t waste any more time in trying to brute force an install that I know isn’t going to work. In no particular order, I tried the official RC1 releases for both x86_64 and x86, and the 5728 nightly RC1 build, again on both the architectures without any success. One would assume that there would be much greater luck in installing the 32-bit version because it’s more mature and has more widespread driver support.

Let me state again for the record, I shouldn’t be experiencing these problems at all. I’m working with a bona fide Intel system here–Intel CPU, Intel Chipsets, and most importantly, an Intel Disk Controller. This shouldn’t be happening. I feel like I’m reliving the days of dealing with POS AMD nForce2 drivers, and flakey motherboards.

I’m just going to wait until the final version is released. I’m tired of wasting both DVD+Rs and my time.
